Forest City Bible Church officially became a church in 1978, and since then has seen growth and decline, mergers, new leadership, and various transitional periods. Through all these changes however, one thing has remained – we have always been a church dedicated to studying God’s Word together. Our timeline below shows some of the major highlights in our church’s history.
- 1888 – Wortley Road Baptist Church is formed
- 1957 – Two families from Wortley Road Baptist Church leaves to form Bible studies in their homes in Lambeth
- 1958 – The home ministry grows and officially opens its doors a church service, calling themselves Lambeth Baptist Mission
- 1960 – Lambeth Baptist Mission renames itself to Lambeth Bible Church
- 1961 – Wortley Road Baptist Church renames itself to Wortley Road Bible Church
- 1978 – Wortley Road Bible Church sells their building and property (which was developed into a condominium) and begins meeting at Masonville Public School. The church officially registers under the name Forest City Bible Church.
- 1982 – Forest City Bible Church merges with Forest City Baptist Church on Wonderland Road North and formally incorporates as Forest City Bible Church.
- 2001 – Lambeth Bible Church merges with FCBC, reuniting the two ‘sister’ churches.
- 2002 – After reaching full capacity, a large addition was added to form the building we have today.
- 2022 – Pastor David Driver joins FCBC to be the lead pastor and begins the revitalization of the church.
